Pregnancy changes your body in extraordinary ways — and sometimes that means pain. Pelvic girdle pain, lower back pain, sciatica and postural strain are among the most common reasons pregnant women visit WYLD. Our chiropractors, physiotherapists, massage therapists and acupuncturists all have experience working with pregnant patients across every trimester.
Pregnancy places enormous demand on the pelvis and spine. As your baby grows, your centre of gravity shifts, ligaments loosen under the influence of relaxin, and the lumbar curve increases. These changes are natural — but they can produce significant discomfort when the body struggles to adapt.
Our chiropractors assess pelvic alignment, sacroiliac joint function and spinal mechanics throughout pregnancy. Gentle, pregnancy-appropriate techniques aim to support pelvic balance and spinal comfort as your body adapts. Our chiropractors regularly work with pregnant patients presenting with pelvic girdle pain, lower back pain, sciatica and round ligament discomfort.
At WYLD, pregnancy chiropractic care is beautifully complemented by pregnancy massage for comfort and relaxation, physiotherapy for pelvic floor and core support, and pregnancy acupuncture for labour preparation and post-partum recovery.
Book a Chiropractic AssessmentPregnancy-related pain is driven by the remarkable physical changes your body undergoes. These are the most common presentations we see at WYLD.
Pain in the sacroiliac joints or pubic symphysis — the most common pregnancy complaint we see. Caused by increased joint laxity from relaxin hormone combined with the growing weight of your baby. Often felt in the lower back, buttocks, hips or groin.
As your baby grows, the lumbar curve increases to compensate for your shifting centre of gravity. This places additional load on the lumbar discs, facet joints and surrounding muscles — producing the characteristic lower back ache of pregnancy.
The weight and postural changes of pregnancy — particularly in the third trimester — can shift pelvic alignment and increase pressure on the sciatic nerve. This produces shooting pain, numbness or tingling from the lower back through the buttock and down the leg.
Sharp, jabbing pain in the lower abdomen or groin — caused by stretching of the round ligaments that support the uterus. Most common in the second trimester and often triggered by sudden movements, standing or rolling over in bed.
As the uterus expands, the ribcage is pushed outward and upward. This can produce discomfort in the mid-back and ribs — particularly in the third trimester. Thoracic spine stiffness and costovertebral joint restriction are common findings.
Finding a comfortable sleeping position becomes increasingly difficult. The resulting poor sleep, combined with the physical demands of pregnancy, contributes to muscular tension, pain sensitivity and overall discomfort. Pregnancy massage and chiropractic care can support better rest.
Pregnancy is where WYLD's multi-disciplinary approach truly shines. Every discipline has something valuable to offer — and many pregnant patients use a combination of services throughout their pregnancy.
Physiotherapy — Pelvic floor assessment, core stability work, diastasis recti management and labour preparation. Our physiotherapists support your body through pregnancy and provide essential post-partum rehabilitation to restore function after birth.
Pregnancy Massage — Specifically adapted for each trimester. Side-lying positioning, gentle pressure and focus on the lower back, hips and legs. One of the most popular services among our pregnant patients — deeply relaxing and supportive.
Pregnancy Acupuncture — Our acupuncturists commonly work with pregnant patients for labour preparation (from 36 weeks), cervix ripening, baby positioning, anxiety management and post-partum recovery. Acupuncture has a long history of use during pregnancy.
A gentle, pregnancy-appropriate assessment of your spine and pelvis — because every trimester is different.
Your practitioner takes a detailed history — understanding your trimester, symptoms, pregnancy history, activity levels and any complications or concerns.

A hands-on examination including range of motion testing, orthopaedic tests, neurological screening and spinal palpation to identify areas of restricted movement.

Your practitioner explains what they've found and recommends a care plan — which may include chiropractic, physiotherapy, massage or acupuncture depending on your needs and trimester.

If appropriate, gentle care begins at your first visit. Pregnancy-appropriate techniques, comfortable positioning and full communication throughout. Many patients report significant comfort improvement.

WYLD offers every pregnancy-related therapy under one roof — chiropractic for pelvic alignment, physiotherapy for pelvic floor support, massage for comfort and relaxation, and acupuncture for labour preparation. No need to visit multiple clinics.

You can see a chiropractor at any stage of pregnancy. Many patients begin in the second trimester when pelvic and lower back discomfort commonly starts, though some visit from early pregnancy as a proactive measure. Regular visits through the third trimester can support pelvic comfort as your body prepares for birth.
Pelvic girdle pain (PGP) is pain in the sacroiliac joints or pubic symphysis — the joints of your pelvis. It's the most common pregnancy-related complaint we see at WYLD. Caused by hormonal changes (relaxin) that loosen pelvic ligaments, combined with the increasing weight of your baby. It can range from mild discomfort to significant pain affecting walking and sleep.
