Fascial Decompression · Myofascial Therapy · 5 Clinics
Precise, evidence-based cupping therapy delivered by qualified practitioners across five Auckland clinics. Release deep muscle tension, reset chronic pain patterns and accelerate recovery from sports and overuse injuries. ACC registered.
Cupping therapy is a technique using suction cups placed on the skin to decompress deep fascial tissue — the tight, painful knots in muscle tissue that drive pain, restrict movement and refer symptoms elsewhere in the body.
Cupping is grounded in both traditional and modern science and neurophysiology. The needle elicits a brief twitch response that resets the muscle, releases tension and triggers the body's natural healing cascade. It's one of the most effective tools for resolving stubborn pain that hasn't responded to massage or stretching alone.
Cupping is particularly effective for fascial restrictions, chronic tension, sports recovery and conditions where tissue stagnation is driving pain.
Upper trap, rhomboid, erector spinae and thoracic fascial tightness from desk work, postural strain and stress.
Rotator cuff, upper trap and deltoid restriction limiting overhead movement and causing chronic aching.
Post-training muscle soreness, IT band tension, hamstring tightness and competition recovery for athletes.
Scar tissue, post-surgical adhesions and deep fascial restrictions that limit mobility and cause referred pain.
Gluteal, TFL and IT band tightness contributing to lateral knee pain, hip stiffness and running injuries.
Upper cervical and suboccipital fascial restriction contributing to tension-type headaches and neck-related head pain.
Quadratus lumborum, lumbar paraspinal and thoracolumbar fascia restrictions driving chronic low back tension.
Upper back and chest cupping to support lung function, reduce congestion and ease breathing difficulty.
Stress-related muscle guarding, long-standing fascial tension and patterns that haven't responded to massage alone.
Your practitioner assesses your areas of tension, restriction and pain. We identify the fascial layers and muscle groups that will benefit most from cupping.
Cups are placed on the skin using suction. They may be left stationary (retention cupping) or moved along muscle fibres (sliding cupping) depending on your needs.
Your practitioner may combine cupping with acupuncture, massage or mobility work to maximise the release and lock in results.
Circular marks are normal and fade within 3-7 days. Stay hydrated, avoid extreme heat for 24 hours and allow the tissue to continue releasing.

Unlike massage which compresses, cupping lifts and separates fascial layers — accessing restrictions that pressure alone cannot release.
Draws fresh oxygenated blood into stagnant, damaged or chronically tight tissue, flushing metabolic waste and promoting healing.
Reduces post-exercise soreness, speeds muscle recovery and helps athletes return to training faster after competition or heavy sessions.
Breaks up scar tissue and fascial adhesions that form after injury, surgery or prolonged immobility — restoring natural tissue glide.
Resets stress-related muscle holding patterns, particularly in the upper back, neck and shoulders where tension accumulates.
Pairs powerfully with acupuncture, massage and chiropractic care — amplifying the effect when combined in a treatment plan.
Both address muscle tension — but they work in opposite directions. WYLD offers both across all 5 Auckland clinics, and they pair beautifully together.

Cupping therapy uses suction cups placed on the skin to decompress deep fascial tissue, draw fresh blood flow to stagnant areas, release adhesions and accelerate muscle recovery. It is used in both Traditional Chinese Medicine and modern sports science.
Most people find cupping comfortable — a deep pulling sensation rather than pain. You may experience mild soreness and circular marks that typically fade within 3-7 days. The marks are not bruises but the result of old blood and metabolic waste being drawn to the surface.
Cupping marks typically fade within 3-7 days depending on the degree of stagnation in the tissue. Darker marks indicate more congestion. With regular treatment, marks tend to lighten as circulation improves in the area.
Cupping is effective for back and neck tension, shoulder tightness, IT band and hip pain, sports recovery, post-workout soreness, fascial adhesions, chronic tension headaches, respiratory congestion and stress-related muscle holding patterns.
Cupping may be covered by ACC when delivered as part of an acupuncture or physiotherapy treatment plan by our registered practitioners. Our team can advise on your specific situation and lodge claims at your appointment.
Absolutely. Cupping pairs powerfully with acupuncture, massage and chiropractic care. Many WYLD clients combine cupping with their regular treatment for enhanced results. Our practitioners collaborate to build the best plan for you.
WYLD offers cupping therapy at all 5 Auckland clinics: Ponsonby (20 Jervois Road), Newmarket (2A Railway Street), Takapuna (439 Lake Road), Howick (128 Picton Street), and Birkenhead (119 Birkenhead Avenue). All open 7 days.
Stay well hydrated, avoid hot showers or saunas for 24 hours, and keep the cupped areas covered from wind and cold. The marks will fade naturally. Your practitioner will provide specific aftercare advice based on your treatment.
