Everything you need to know before you arrive.
Your first visit at WYLD Newmarket is your initial consultation and assessment. Your chiropractor will take a detailed health history, perform orthopaedic, neurological and chiropractic testing, and complete a postural analysis. If clinically indicated, they may refer you for X-rays. Most clients receive their report of findings and first treatment at their second visit, giving the chiropractor time to review everything thoroughly.
Bring any relevant medical history, scans or specialist reports if you have them. Wear comfortable clothing you can move in — workout-style attire is ideal. If you've been injured, mention this when booking so we can prepare your ACC paperwork in advance. Aim to arrive 5-10 minutes early to complete intake forms.
Appointment lengths vary depending on the visit type and what's appropriate for your care. Your initial consultation and assessment is the longest — your chiropractor takes the time to build a complete picture before any treatment plan is built. Follow-up appointments are shorter and tailored to what you need on the day.
Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing you can move in. Avoid restrictive jeans, belts or anything that would limit movement. Activewear is ideal. We have private treatment rooms and can provide gowns if needed.
No referral is required to see a chiropractor in New Zealand. You can book directly with WYLD Newmarket online, by email at newmarket@wyld.nz or by calling 09 218 6886. ACC claims also do not require a GP referral — we can lodge new claims in-house.
Yes — you're welcome to bring a partner, family member or support person to any appointment. For paediatric or pregnancy care we encourage it.
Honest, transparent answers about the costs of care.
Yes. WYLD Newmarket chiropractors are ACC registered providers. If your concern is from an injury — recent or old — we can lodge a new ACC claim directly at the clinic. No GP referral needed. ACC subsidises a significant portion of your treatment cost.
If you've had a new injury, mention it when booking. At your first visit, your chiropractor will complete an ACC claim form with you (a few minutes of paperwork). Once your claim is accepted, ACC subsidises your subsequent visits for the duration approved by ACC.
Yes. WYLD is registered with Southern Cross Health Insurance for chiropractic, physiotherapy and acupuncture services. Most major NZ health insurers (nib, AIA, Accuro, UniMed, Police Health Plan and others) also cover these services depending on your policy. Payment is made in full at your appointment, and you submit the receipt to your insurer for reimbursement. Check with your insurer to confirm coverage levels before your visit.
Pricing varies by visit type and whether you're claiming via ACC. We're transparent about costs upfront — please contact WYLD Newmarket on 09 218 6886 or email newmarket@wyld.nz for the current rate card, or visit our Service Prices page. Pricing is consistent across our 5 Auckland clinics.
Yes. WYLD memberships make ongoing care more affordable for clients who use chiropractic regularly as part of their wellness routine. Ask your chiropractor at your second visit which option may suit your goals.
Yes — WYLD Gift Vouchers are available for any of our services (chiropractic, physio, massage, acupuncture and more). They make a thoughtful gift for someone in pain, an athlete, a new parent, or a friend who needs a reset. Available online via our Shop.
No. We're upfront about pricing. Your chiropractor will discuss your care plan including the recommended frequency, total estimated cost and ACC subsidy (if applicable) at your second visit, before any ongoing care begins.
Common questions about what an adjustment actually is.
A chiropractic adjustment is a controlled, precise application of force to a spinal or peripheral joint. The aim is to restore healthy joint motion, reduce mechanical restriction, and support nervous system function. Your chiropractor selects the technique that's appropriate for your body — this may include manual adjustments, instrument-assisted techniques (like Activator), drop-piece tables, or low-force methods.
In chiropractic terminology, a subluxation refers to a joint that isn't moving through its full healthy range — often described as a joint dysfunction or movement restriction. Restoring motion to such a joint is the focus of a chiropractic adjustment. Your chiropractor will explain what they're finding in your specific case.
Chiropractic adjustments performed by registered chiropractors are generally well-tolerated and considered safe. Most clients describe them as relieving rather than painful. Some people experience mild soreness for 24-48 hours afterwards (similar to post-exercise feeling). Your chiropractor will always discuss what to expect, screen for any contraindications, and adjust their technique to your comfort.
The sound is called a 'cavitation' — it's caused by gas bubbles releasing from the fluid surrounding the joint. It's not bones cracking or grinding. The sound is not necessary for an effective adjustment, and not all techniques produce one.
It depends on your situation, your goals and how your body responds. As a general guide, our chiropractors usually start with more intensive care to address what's bringing you in, then gradually space appointments out as your body responds and progress is made. After your initial assessment, your chiropractor will discuss what they recommend for you and review it together as you go. Individual responses vary.
Some clients feel a difference after their first adjustment. Others take a few sessions before noticing change. Chronic patterns generally take longer to shift than acute issues. Your chiropractor will set realistic expectations based on what they find at your assessment.
Just let your chiropractor know. There are several techniques (Activator, drop-piece, mobilisation, low-force methods) that achieve healthy joint movement without an audible cavitation. We tailor technique to client preference and clinical need.
No. How long you choose to receive chiropractic care is entirely up to you. Some clients come for a defined recovery period and then stop. Others continue with maintenance care because they prefer how they feel and move. Your chiropractor will be transparent about what they recommend — and you decide what's right for you.
Areas chiropractic commonly supports — and who it suits.
Chiropractic care commonly supports back and neck pain, headaches, sciatica, posture, sports injuries, joint and movement issues, pregnancy-related discomfort, paediatric musculoskeletal concerns, whiplash recovery, and general wellness. At WYLD Newmarket, your chiropractor will assess your specific situation and discuss whether chiropractic care is appropriate. Individual responses to care vary.
Yes. WYLD Newmarket chiropractors hold training in paediatric care and use gentle, age-appropriate techniques scaled to a small body. Many parents bring children for movement, posture or musculoskeletal concerns. Your chiropractor will always discuss what's appropriate for your child's age and situation.
When delivered by a chiropractor with pregnancy training, chiropractic care is generally well-tolerated through all stages of pregnancy. Modified techniques and special pregnancy pillows are used to keep mum comfortable. WYLD Newmarket chiropractors offer pregnancy-specific care designed for the changing pregnant body.
Yes — we see clients of all ages, including many older adults. Your chiropractor will adjust technique to suit your body, joint health and any conditions you live with. Low-force, instrument-assisted and mobilisation techniques are commonly used. We'll always discuss what's appropriate before proceeding.
In most cases yes, but timing and approach depend on the type of surgery and your stage of recovery. Bring any relevant surgical reports and we'll work with your specialist's recommendations. Your chiropractor will adapt care to your situation.
Many of our clients come to WYLD with long-term chronic issues. Chronic patterns typically take longer to address than acute ones, and the response varies between individuals. After a thorough assessment, your chiropractor will give you an honest view of what chiropractic care can and cannot offer in your situation.
Many clients report feeling more relaxed after care, and improved sleep is a commonly reported benefit. Chiropractic supports nervous system function and physical tension release — both of which influence stress and sleep quality. Individual responses vary.
Yes. WYLD Newmarket sees athletes from weekend warriors to professionals — supporting movement, recovery and resilience. Many of our chiropractors and physios have additional sports therapy training. We work alongside your wider performance and rehab team.
Movement-first rehab from our ACC registered physios.
No referral required. You can book directly with a physiotherapist at WYLD Newmarket online, by email or by phone. ACC also doesn't require a GP referral — we can lodge new ACC claims in-house.
Yes. WYLD Newmarket physiotherapists are ACC registered providers. If your concern is from an injury — recent or old — we can lodge a new ACC claim directly at the clinic. ACC subsidises a significant portion of your treatment cost.
Our physios assess and support a wide range of musculoskeletal and movement issues — from acute injuries to chronic patterns, post-surgical rehab, sports performance and posture. Treatment can include manual therapy, dry needling, exercise prescription, taping, and movement retraining. Each plan is tailored to you.
Both work with the musculoskeletal system, but from different angles. Chiropractic focuses primarily on the spine, nervous system and joint function — using specific adjustments as the main tool. Physiotherapy takes a broader rehabilitation approach, with exercise prescription, manual therapy, dry needling and a wider range of injury management strategies. Many of our clients see both — our practitioners share notes and collaborate.
Yes — our physiotherapists at WYLD Newmarket have training in dry needling and can use it as part of your treatment plan when clinically appropriate. Dry needling helps release deep muscle trigger points and is often combined with manual therapy and movement work.
Yes — sports injury rehab is a core part of what our physios do. They'll assess what's happened, build a recovery plan, and progress you back to full activity in a structured way. We can also lodge ACC claims in-house if relevant.
Deep tissue, Swedish, lymphatic, pregnancy, sports & more.
WYLD Newmarket offers deep tissue, Swedish (relaxation), sports massage, lymphatic drainage, pregnancy massage, and our signature WYLD Facial massage. Your therapist will recommend the style that suits your goals on the day.
Tell us what you're after when you book — recovery, relaxation, deep tension release, pregnancy support, or something specific. Our front-of-house team or your therapist will guide you. You can also try different styles over time to find what works best for you.
Massage therapy is generally not covered by ACC as a standalone service. If you're being treated under an ACC claim by one of our chiropractors or physios, hands-on soft tissue work may be included as part of that treatment.
Yes — when delivered by a qualified pregnancy massage therapist using appropriate techniques and positioning. WYLD Newmarket therapists trained in pregnancy massage use special pillows or side-lying positioning to keep mum comfortable. We'll always discuss what's appropriate at your stage of pregnancy.
Deep tissue work can feel intense — particularly in chronically tight areas — but it should never feel sharp or unbearable. Communication with your therapist is key. Let them know if pressure needs adjusting at any point. Some mild soreness for 24-48 hours is normal.
Yes. WYLD Newmarket sports massage is designed for athletes, weekend warriors and anyone training hard. Pre-event, post-event, and recovery-focused work tailored to your sport and training cycle.
Traditional Chinese Medicine for whole-body wellness.
Acupuncture is a Traditional Chinese Medicine practice that involves inserting very fine, sterile, single-use needles into specific points on the body. The aim is to support the body's natural balance, circulation and nervous system function. Sessions are calm and most clients find them deeply relaxing.
Most clients describe acupuncture as gentle. The needles are extremely fine — much thinner than injection needles — and you typically feel a small sensation on insertion that fades quickly. Many people fall asleep during their session.
Acupuncture can be delivered under ACC by our ACC registered acupuncturists at WYLD Newmarket. However, acupuncturists cannot open new ACC claims — to start a new claim, you'll need to see one of our chiropractors or physiotherapists first, who can lodge the claim and add acupuncture to your treatment plan. If you already have an active ACC claim, just mention it when booking.
Acupuncture is commonly used to support pain management, stress and tension, sleep, hormonal balance, fertility support, pregnancy comfort, digestion, and general wellness. Your acupuncturist will discuss what's appropriate for your situation.
Always. We only use sterile, single-use, individually-packaged needles — disposed of safely after each session. Our acupuncturists are registered practitioners with formal training and current registration.
It varies by person and concern. Some people notice change after one or two sessions; others benefit from a course of treatment over several weeks. Your acupuncturist will discuss what they recommend at your first visit.
Yes — when delivered by an acupuncturist trained in pregnancy care. Specific points are avoided during pregnancy and modified positioning is used. Acupuncture is commonly used for nausea, back tension, anxiety and labour preparation. Tell us you're pregnant when booking.
Western trigger-point release for deep muscle tension.
Dry needling is a Western treatment where fine sterile needles are inserted into myofascial trigger points — tight, painful knots in muscle tissue — to release tension, reduce pain and restore normal movement. It's based on Western anatomy and targets specific muscular dysfunction.
No. Although both use similar fine needles, dry needling is based on Western anatomy and targets specific muscular trigger points. Acupuncture is based on Traditional Chinese Medicine and targets meridian points to support whole-body balance. We offer both at WYLD.
Most people feel only a brief pinprick on insertion. When the needle reaches an active trigger point, you may feel a deep ache or twitch response — this is the muscle releasing. Soreness for 24-48 hours afterwards is normal and expected.
Dry needling can be covered by ACC, but only when delivered by our ACC registered acupuncturists or physiotherapists as part of an injury treatment plan. Sessions with other practitioners are not ACC funded. We can lodge new ACC claims directly at the clinic.
Dry needling is commonly used for back and neck pain, headaches and migraines, frozen shoulder, sciatica, tennis and golfer's elbow, plantar fasciitis, sports injuries, jaw tension (TMJ), and chronic muscle pain or postural strain.
At WYLD Newmarket, dry needling is delivered by qualified team members with advanced training. ACC funding only applies when delivered by our registered acupuncturists or physiotherapists.
Decompression therapy for tight fascia & sports recovery.
Cupping uses specialised suction cups placed on the skin to lift fascia and underlying soft tissue. The negative pressure draws blood to the area, decompresses tight muscles, releases adhesions and supports the body's natural recovery response.
Cupping commonly leaves circular discolouration that fades within 3-10 days. The marks are not bruises in the conventional sense — they are pooled blood and metabolic waste drawn up from deep tissue. Marks typically fade faster as your tissue health improves.
No. Most clients describe cupping as a deep tugging or pulling sensation that feels relieving rather than painful. You may notice intensity in chronically tight areas — this typically reduces within a minute or two as the tissue releases.
Cupping can be covered by ACC, but only when delivered by our ACC registered acupuncturists or physiotherapists as part of an injury treatment plan. Sessions with other practitioners are not ACC funded.
Dry cupping uses manual or pump-action suction to create the vacuum. Fire cupping briefly heats the air inside a glass cup before placement — the cooling air creates the suction. Both achieve similar therapeutic effects. Your practitioner will choose the most appropriate method for your needs.
Cupping is commonly used for chronic back, neck and shoulder tension, sports injury recovery, IT band and hamstring tightness, plantar fasciitis, sciatic nerve compression, tension headaches, scar tissue and post-surgical adhesions, and circulation or recovery support after intense training.
Functional health support for gut, hormones, energy & skin.
Naturopathy is a holistic approach to health that uses nutrition, herbal medicine, lifestyle medicine and functional testing to support the body's natural ability to heal. Our naturopaths take a detailed look at your symptoms, history, lifestyle and goals before building a personalised plan.
Common reasons clients see our naturopaths at WYLD Newmarket include digestive and gut concerns, hormonal balance, fatigue and energy, sleep, skin conditions, immune support, stress and mood, and general wellbeing optimisation.
Not necessarily. Your naturopath may recommend nutritional or herbal support depending on your situation, but the focus is always on diet, lifestyle and root causes first. Any recommended supplements will be explained — including why, how long, and what to expect.
Where appropriate, your naturopath may recommend functional testing — for example, gut, hormone or nutritional panels — to give a clearer picture of what's happening. Standard GP-referred bloods can also be reviewed if you have recent results.
Naturopathy isn't covered by ACC. Some health insurers offer partial cover depending on your policy — check with your insurer. Naturopathy consultations are typically paid in full at the appointment.
Absolutely — and many clients do. Naturopathy works well alongside chiropractic, physiotherapy and acupuncture. Our practitioners collaborate so your care is joined-up. Always tell your naturopath about any medications or supplements you're taking.
Infrared sauna & ice bath contrast suites.
Hot + Cold (or contrast therapy) combines time in an infrared sauna with cold immersion in an ice bath. Moving between heat and cold is widely used by athletes, biohackers and wellness clients for recovery, circulation support, nervous system regulation and mental focus.
Hot + Cold suites are available at our Newmarket and Howick clinics. Book online via the Hot + Cold page on our website.
Sessions are designed to give you enough time to enjoy several rounds of contrast — heat, cold, rest, repeat. Your booking will show you the available session lengths and pricing.
Yes — our private suites can be booked for 1, 2 or 3 people. Bundle packages are available for regular users. Great for couples, friends, or recovery-focused training partners.
Generally yes — but contrast therapy isn't appropriate for everyone, including people with certain heart conditions, during pregnancy, or with some other medical conditions. Always check with your doctor first if you have any underlying health concerns.
